If You Are Black Should Barack Obama Do More For You?
President Barack Obama had an opportunity to let Black Americans know what he was planning to do for them, since they helped him get elected. However, he did not, it seems he was trying to suggest that the programs that he has put in place were sufficient and working.

QUESTION: Thank you, Mr. President.
As the entire nation tries to climb out of this deep recession, in communities of color, the circumstances are far worse. The black unemployment rate, as you know, is in the double digits. Moreover, in New York City, for example, the black unemployment rate for men is near 50 percent.
My question to you tonight is given this unique and desperate circumstance, what specific policies can you point to that will target these communities and what's the timetable for us to see tangible results?
Many black Americans had very high expectations from Barack Obama. Now that he is President it seems obvious that he is not going to do any more that what he has already done.
For most black Americans the system that is in place now is not benefiting them, and New York City is just an example of that.
President Barack Obama stated that unemployment insurance was extended. However, that does nothing for those who have been out of work for years and have just given up.
Black Americans were looking for a check like that under President Bush administration or something better, and that has really disappointed my people.
On Friday, May 1, some blacks who voted for President Barack Obama appeared on “The Glenn Beck Show” on Fox to make it clear that they do not approve of the President's policies.
Nevertheless, some black Americans had a false notion that Barack Obama was going to do more for them than what he has already done. However, there are some who are just happy to have a black president and for them anything he does is fine with them.

It's amazing how the black community jumps to Obama's defense. He would never tell the hispanic voters that he's not going to do things to help them when they are being hurt more than anyone else. Blacks are being disproportionately affected by the recession, and Obama has stated that he will do nothing to reduce this disproportion. How can the black community defend that? If we can't hold him accountable, then admit that and stop being dishonest. Obama hasn't done anything for the black community and he won't. He will continue to benefit from our vote, all the while he's doing less for us than any other demographic. Get a grip and a life, and stop worshiping a man.

What you see and hear is not what you believe that you and the nation are getting. President Obama is an eloquent speaker when he has a teleprompter .What he says one day changes on another day and sometimes in the opposite what he previously said.
You and many others who voted for president Obama took the president for his promise and word.
Unemployment went up to 9.7% recently after the president announced that there was an increase in the job market. Most of the jobs he created was in the public/government sector, increasing the size of government does not help the private sector and the economy in these troubled times.
Time will only tell if president Obama will fulfill his promises that he made as a candidate. Let's hope that the biased press and news media will start to report all the news, fairly and honestly in the near future.

Barack Obama is the President, he is not God. President Obama is not there to pull Black Americans out of the depression and to give them jobs. Black Americans have to do this themselves. Black Americans are the only Black diaspora who expects to be rescued and to be granted entrance into the land of milk and honey.
Black Americans must eliminate "the dependency shackle" and "the rescue me shackle". Black Americans must make every concerted effort to look for employment and to invent avenues of creating employment if there are not any viable avenues of employments.
Black Americans still have the slave and plantation mentaility whereas other Black diaspora such as the Black Caribbean and the Black African know how to succeed by looking for gainful employment and if they cannot find, know the art of entrepeneurship. The skill of entrepeneurship is surely lacking in the Black American community. It is time to wake up Black America and do not expect President Obama to rescue you. Grow up.
There needs to be equal opportunity for all people, and there is no EEOC the agency was stripped down presidents ago. Obama job as president of the United States was not intended to "help black Americans" if it was, then his job would be easy. Black Americans need to realize, his job is to represent America as a whole and keeping peace with the hardest countries to deal with, including wrapping up the Iraqi war without losing control of this country and its government. There is a good chance when blacks, whites, Hispanics and all other races in America are screaming for more rights. He is thinking about if the crazy dictator in North Korea who is planning an attack against Japan or the United States and who raises their children to hate Americans. He flies to Russia hoping to make a difference, while prisoners in labor camps are praying that he can talk sense into their government all for them to be free. Because it is Russia, he cannot force them to do a damn thing and they lie constantly. The weirdo in North Korea hates Americans period and will not even try to talk or negotiate. Then he has the American Economy. Oh god, Obama has a lot on his plate and the world needs to relax. I would never want to be Obama. Black Americans need to look into how many people in other countries is playing tug a war with him. Remember America might be great to us but to other countries, we are their central target. In my opinion, I think Obama is trying a human approach, that other countries sometimes do not understand how to be human. I hope his tactics work because we as America are not trusted in many hardcore countries.
